Today, I have four exciting updates to share with you:
We are thrilled to announce the Campolo Center for Ministry’s first-ever Fellow in Residence – James Williams!
This post-graduate position, funded by the Baugh Family Foundation Grant, is designed to fill a need in the Campolo Center for additional support and oversight of the Campolo Scholars.
And James is a perfect fit…
James will continue serving as the main point of contact between the Campolo Center and churches in our area. He will meet with pastors, invite them to be a part of our weekly Campolo Scholar meetings, and will encourage them to build mentoring relationships with Scholars. James will also provide leadership in coordinating our Speakers Series – and much more!
Please join me in welcoming and congratulating James. We are so grateful for his gifts and service!
Congratulations to Jon and Michelle!
The two recently graduated Campolo Scholars (and newlyweds!) have both accepted ministry positions at Abiding Presence Lutheran Church in northern Virginia.
Jon is serving as the Youth and Family Minister, and Michelle as the Children and Family Minister.
We are so proud of these two leaders and anticipate much fruit will be borne from their service in the world.

Finally, I want to share my gratitude for the (late) Jean Stasi.
Jean Stasi was a sharp, spirited woman whom I admired very much. We corresponded over the years and I visited her Chapel Hill home twice. This past January, we stayed up late discussing politics, religion, and our concerns and hopes for the church, all while eating her homemade brownies and drinking cold milk.
That is how I’ll always remember Jean: Gracious, hospitable, witty and a great conversationalist.
Jean and her late husband, Gus, were very generous to leave a legacy gift to support the work of Dr. Tony Campolo and the Campolo Center at Eastern.
This generous estate gift was divided between Tony’s Team, which supports our day-to-day operations and programming, and the Campolo Endowment Fund, which supports current and future generations of Campolo Scholars.
We are grateful for the ongoing partnership and provision of dear friends like Jean and Gus… and you! Because of your support, James, Jon, and Michelle are actively ministering today.
