SUMMARY:The Holy Art of Listening with Michael Gingrich and Tom Kaden
DESCRIPTION:In times of distress\, the best thing we can do is listen to others’ stories and questions; for it’s in the sharing we find the answers we need and seek.  Listening to the world’s most pressing emotional/spiritual/mental/physical/relational challenges brings healing\, restoration\, and hope.   \nMichael Gingerich and Tom Kaden envisioned an organization with the capability and capacity to be the ears and heart for those who need a compassionate person who listens. They are story seekers who created Someone To Tell It Too for the storyteller. Through the years\, a vault full of stories and success has been filled because of the leaders\, staff\, and volunteers who are compassionate listeners and meet as a pair with a storyteller. Nothing about the story being shared is left without being expressed. Listening is when the magic happens. \nLife-long friends who have a deep-seeded respect for each other and brotherly love\, Michael and Tom are passionate about listening and have a vision and mission to bring compassionate listening to everyone’s home\, workplace\, and relationship. Using their 2by2 Leadership™ model\, they offer value to individuals and organizations seeking transformation and growth. In their homes\, they practice intentionally being present with their families while balancing their mission to help storytellers. \nCultivating and fostering deep\, authentic\, and compassionate relationships drive their resolve to model listening as a genuine method to engage each person who enters their lives. Two of their influencers are Henri Nouwen and Fred (Mr.) Rogers. In the spirit of Mr. Rogers\, they seek to create communities of acceptance\, trust\, appreciation\, and encouragement.  \nMichael is a graduate of Lancaster Theological Seminary and Tom is a graduate of Asbury Theological Seminar. Their education is the foundation for their chosen mission to bring compassionate listening to businesses\, nonprofits\, individuals\, and families.

SUMMARY:The Walls (and Bridges) We Build with Rev. Ray Schellinger
DESCRIPTION:REGISTER HERE \nEastern Baptist (Palmer) Theological Seminary alum\, Ray Schellinger (’93) will share about the barriers that are going up in the US (and around the world) to prevent refugees and asylum seekers from finding places of safety and belonging. He will spotlight several examples of radical hospitality which have risen in stark contrast to the attitudes of rejection which abound in our culture. \nRay is the International Ministries global consultant for Immigrants and Refugees. He networks with IM colleagues and international partners that serve with refugees and displaced peoples\, helping to strengthen their ministries\, find needed resources and build capacity. Ray works to construct bridges between U.S. and P.R. churches and these partners\, providing opportunities to serve some of the most vulnerable people in the world. In addition\, Ray hosts several teams per year in international cross-cultural settings where they can learn about the struggles of migrants\, the realities of global immigration and border policies.  \nhttps://www.internationalministries.org/author/r-schellinger/  \nOn earth as it is in heaven (Matthew 6:10) \nInternational Ministries\, also known as the American Baptist Foreign Mission Society\, works cross-culturally to invite people to become disciples of Jesus Christ and to proclaim\, through both word and deed\, God’s reign of justice\, peace and abundant life for all creation. \n
