We had a wonderful time celebrating Tony’s birthday on Friday, February 25th!
Thanks to everyone who attended and participated in the celebration and for everyone who contributed to the matching gift campaign. We not only reached but exceeded the goal of $87,000 in honor of Tony for the Campolo Scholarship Fund. You can still honor Tony with a gift to the Campolo Scholarship Fund here: www.campolocenter.org/birthday
Special thanks to Peter and Margaret Vardy for their generous matching gift of $43,500 and for being our guests of honor at the party. Thank you to Greg Fromholz for creating the beautiful documentary film — Tony Campolo: Divine Dissatisfaction — and joining us from Ireland to interview Tony.
We are grateful for the creative and talented Ken Medema for sharing his gift of music with Tony and all of us. Thanks to Tony’s Eastern College professor and mentor, Dr. Lee Allan, for sharing stories of Tony as a student. Thanks to Campolo Scholars Jabre Harris and Karen Bennett for talking about their experiences as Campolo Scholars as they complete their final year in the program. And thanks to Campolo Scholar Alum and Senior Pastor of the Historic First Baptist Church of Philadelphia, Rev. James Williams for sharing about his relationship with Tony and the impact of the Campolo Scholars program on his life and ministry.
And finally, a big thanks to Dr. Ron Matthews, Tony’s dear friend and President of Eastern University for sharing about Tony’s service to the cause of Christ and Eastern University.
It is a joy to share this wonderful program with you now, so If you were not able to attend the party and/or would like to share with family and friends, the recording of the full program is available here. Thanks and praise God for a wonderful birthday celebration with Tony and Peggy Campolo!
